The Web3TalentFair Chronicles: Building a Community One Block at a Time

It all started at the end of Ethereum France’s General Assembly in 2022. The conversation? “Why isn’t there a job fair for Web3 talent during EthCC Week?” You know that moment when an idea takes root, and suddenly, you’re the one with the watering can? 🌱 Well, that’s exactly what happened. Despite all the warnings about the inevitable stress and workload, I took the plunge. Why? Because connecting talents and builders felt like the perfect way to grow GoodHive’s community, make some noise, and meet a pressing need in the Web3 space. 🌍💡

Let’s be real—hiring in Web3 is no small feat. It’s like searching for the right puzzle piece when every piece seems to be from a different puzzle altogether. 🧩 The talent shortage and hiring challenges were tough pain points for the ecosystem, so I figured, why not help ease the pain? And hey, it wasn’t just me. A whole crew jumped on board this wild ride—massive shoutout to my co-founder Hayat Outahar, and the amazing Alex BITA, Alexis Krüger, Nicolas Barbet, Patrick Bouffartigue, Mehdi Labbani, Xavier Charpentier, and everyone else who lent a hand along the way. You all made Web3TalentFair a reality! 🙌❤️

Fast forward to now, and we’ve had the honor of bringing together some of the sharpest minds in Web3 and beyond. 🧠🌐 We welcomed worldwide speakers and exhibitors to showcase what it’s really like to work in this space. We didn’t just touch on the #FutureOfWork - we built the entire event around it, diving deep into Web3 core values, the latest Web3 technologies, and AI. 🤖💻
And the best part? Hearing back from attendees who actually landed jobs because of the event. That’s the kind of impact that makes it all worthwhile. 🎉👏

One of the coolest things about organizing Web3TalentFair has been watching the talent pool evolve. In 2022, only 26% of our attendees had more than one year of professional Web3 experience. This year? That number shot up to 73%, with many boasting over three years of seniority in the space. 📈 Talk about growth! 🌱 It’s also interesting to note that 38% of participants were looking for freelancing contracts, 29% were seeking employment, and a third were open to any type of contract. 💼🛠️ Our community is diverse, flexible, and ready to contribute.

Oh, and here’s a humble brag: recruiters gave our talent pool a 90% satisfaction rating. Not bad, right? 😎💯

Over the past three years, we’ve welcomed more than 130 speakers, 50 exhibitors, and have been featured in over 30 media outlets. We set out to make some noise, and I think it’s safe to say: mission accomplished. 🎯🔥
